More details on Soul Calibur: Legends for the Wii
It’s confirmed that the critically-acclaimed Soul Calibur series is coming over to the Nintendo Wii, but here’s the kicker: it’s a third-person adventure, and not the fighting game we’ve all been accustomed to. Now, before you panic, Namco Bandai promises that even with the new, shiny wrapper, it’s still Soul Calibur – right down to the core. Just don’t expect the fighting system to be as deep as the previous titles.
While the control system is still being kept under wraps, we do know that the Wiimote and Nunchuck attachment will be used in tandem, and players will be able to use their favorite characters to hack and slash their way through opponents en masse. Details about the story are just as scant, but there’s hint of cooperation amongst the characters to “save an empire from destruction.”
Overall, this makes a whole lot of sense being the series’ next step – and seriously, any of the Soul Calibur characters have as much flair and finesse with their weapons and ascribed fighting styles as a certain smack-talking Son of Sparda. Imagine Talim mowing down baddies with a fifteen-hit combo of her tonfas, or Asteroth clearing an entire crowd with just one swipe of his axe – a third-person adventure would certainly work, if not ROCK.
Updates as they unfold – meanwhile, enjoy the eye candy!
