Next, the gameplay and the storyline. The report says that this is distinctly a single-player experience. There is, however, a multiplayer component to the game. The details surrounding that are lacking at the moment. As for the storyline, the report assures us that it would be faithful to canon material (despite the overpowered Force abilities) as George Lucas was consulted regarding the story of the game.

The two engines used in the game – Euphoria and Digital Molecular Matter – are reported to allow the game to react to players in a way that no other game has done before (*cough* HL2 *cough*). Euphoria is the name for the Artificial Intelligence engine that is used to have characters react and understand their environment, while DMM is a replacement for the need to have game designers animate environment reaction to player actions, like say breaking objects, energy on walls, etc.

Shaak-Ti - Image 1

Oh, here’s some other plot tidbits: Shaak Ti did not die in Episode III. In fact, she serves as the antagonist of the player in this game (you’re Vader’s lapdog remember?). If you’re an avid “Star Wars” buff then you’d probably recall the “Secrets of 07” image at StarWars.com, where you see Shaak Ti charging a red-lightsabered individual surrounded by Rancor Pit-Monsters. Well, that red-lightsabered fellow is you, and the Rancors are on Shaak-Ti’s side, not yours. Ouch.

The game will feature new characters (Jedi General Kota, Maris Brood and her tonfa-esque lightsabers), new and established locations (Felucia, Raxus Prime, Haroon the crystal moon), and multiple endings. Developers also hint that you can switch to the Light side.

Oh, and if gameplay is all you’re really concerned with when it comes to Star Wars games, the developers promise that the boss battles in this game will be good. For example, one of the ways to defeat one of the aforementioned Rancor pit monsters is to have it swallow you. Here’s how the report describes it:

Once you are in its stomach, triggering a Force Repulse will send a shockwave through the hulking creatures body, tearing it apart from the inside.

Eww.
