Nailed shut: Castlevania film adaptation not happening anymore
And so it is over even before it officially took off. Sources close to Bloody Disgusting are reporting that the film adaptation for Castlevania has been sucked out dry and so will no longer push through. Canned is the word, I believe.

It was supposed to be a Paul W.S. Anderson production (he of the Resident Evil trilogy fame), with Sylvain White heading the directorial duties. Apparently, however, the directorial job was passed onto new folks, which then led the development of the film into “development hell”. First announced in 2007, the production has, in fact, gone through a lot of ups and (mosty) downs, including a postponement in production due to the writers’ strike.
It was also said that the story was supposed to focus on the origins of Dracula and the uprising of the Belmont Clan. They would be the vampire-slaying family who only happens to be humanity’s last hope against the blood-sucking fiends.
There goes the stake, straight for the heart. Would you even want to see a Castlevania film adaptation in the first place?
