Namco Bandai uses PS3 hardware for arcade game Razing Storm
Razing Storm is Namco Bandai‘s latest game title to offer to light gun game fans out there. It uses the System 357 of the PS3 hardware and it’s playable in arcade. Say what? Yes, it’s an arcade game that uses the PS3’s hardware. Intriguing, isn’t it? Check it out after the jump.
Namco Bandai has announced via press wire their latest project to hit the gaming market, Razing Storm. But there’s a twist. It’s an arcade light gun game that’s built with the PS3’s hardware.
Specifically, the System 357. Now it’s not entirely new anymore, given that Sega has used the system for Tekken 6. But this time, it’s supposed to “produce beautiful graphics on a 62 inch monitor”. Looking at the screenshots that came with the press release, it really is something to behold, and you would never have guessed it’s for an arcade, and not a next-gen.
So what is Razing Storm about? It’s basically said to be a light gun game that’s set in 2030, wherein your mission is to shoot terrorists in South America. The light gun you’ll be using as your weapon is a hyper vibrating machine gun controller.
Apart from the graphics that are looking keenly like a PS3 game, the game will also have advanced AIs that even enemies react to falling debris from crumbling buildings, and of course, to your actions.
Razing Storm is said to come out in the Spring of 2009. With this new hybrid of technologies, it looks like the arcades are setting for a resurgence.
