NCSoft offering games apprenticeship

NCSoft - Image 1Develop reports that NCSoft, the company behind popular title Lineage and the upcoming MMORPG Tabula Rasa, is piloting the U.K.’s First Apprenticeship in Quality Assurance and Games Production. For this endeavor, NCSoft will be working in partnership with City College Brighton, PartnerTrans and Skillset.

“The Apprenticeship is led and delivered by the games industry, with the trainee spending the majority of the time with a company being mentored by an experienced practitioner,” said Chris Chilton, computer games and animation manager at Skillset.

“NCSoft support has been vital in SkillsetÂ’s development and piloting of the scheme and in offering trainees the opportunity to work in this exciting sector whilst earning a recognised qualification.”

The Apprenticeship course focuses on videogame testing and improving the general gaming experience. According to Develop, four trainees have been enrolled onto the Apprenticeship. These new apprentices have joined NCSoft’s QA team in Brighton and will be working under NCSoft’s supervision for a year. Regular college training at the City College Brighton will also supplement the apprenticeship.
