New Mercenaries 2 details revealed

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Fuel will be playing a vital role in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, the highly-anticipated sequel to Pandemic Studios‘ PS2 hit. According to some details that we were able to gather from GamesRadar.com, players won’t have to continually pump their vehicles full of gas, but calling in an air strike will lower your fuel reserves. If you want to keep your valuable air support, you’ve got to battle for controls of fuel depots and outposts during missions.

Apart from hoarding fuel like there’s no tomorrow, players will also be sure to appreciate the host of brand new offensive options to satisfy their more hostile tendencies. Mercenaries 2 will include new ordnance (the sub-nuke MOAB, or Massive Ordnance Air Bomb), new vehicles (attack helicopters and stronger APCs) and new weapons, like shoulder-mounted ground-to-air antiaircraft missiles.

There have also been hints in the latest issue of the US Official PlayStation Magazine that Mercenaries 2 will also feature “modern pirates.” No further elaboration has been made regarding this issue yet, but it could mean that players will have to fight for supplies against groups other than the the local Venezuelan factions, especially with the whole fuel thing added to the mix. Keep checking back here at QJ for more updates.
