New screenshots of Sega’s PuyoPuyo!
Puyo Puyo! is a puzzle game for the Nintendo Wii video game console confirmed by Sega last month. The series is a huge hit in Japan, and a couple of titles in the series are/will also be available on the Virtual Console.
Players can go through the game individually, but Sega has put extra emphasis on the game’s multiplayer modes. One is Puyo Puyo Together. As the name suggests, the former will let two players work on the same field at the same time. Meanwhile, Remote Control Puyo Puyo is played using the motion-sensing capabilities of two Wiimotes. One controller is used for rotating the pieces while the other is used for moving them.
The game’s not limited to just two players, though. Sega is also bringing back the classic battle modes, with support for up to four simultaneous players. The Japanese version of Puyo Puyo! is slated for a July 26 release. No word yet on a North American release, but you can check out the new screenshots below.
