New Street Fighter 4 characters revealed; more details, screens from Capcom
If you thought Bob of Tekken 6 would be the only rotund fighter to grace this current era of fighters, don’t look now because he may have a potential rival with Rufus from Capcom‘s Street Fighter 4 (PC, Xbox 360, and PS3). Along with El Fuerte and Seth, these three were the highlighted characters of this week’s issue of Famitsu, featuring the upcoming sequel to the highly celebrated Street Fighter series. You can check out the details that were discussed in the full article.
Rotund fighters seem to be all the rage these days as a new challenger recently introduced himself into the Street Fighter 4 roster. Rufus (the said rotund fighter), along with El Fuerte and Seth, were the highlighted characters of this week’s issue of Famitsu, featuring the upcoming sequel to the highly celebrated Street Fighter series.
Rufus was described as a kung-fu expert who proclaimed himself as the number one American martial artist. Naturally, this would pit him against the iconic Ken, who has already made his mark in the Street Fighter universe. Rufus’ obsession in defeating Ken leads him to pick fights with total strangers who just happen to look like his rival.
While we’ve already seen some images of the feisty luchador, El Fuerte, it might be interesting to note that most of his moves are named after popular Mexican food dishes, such as the Jabanero Back Dash, the Propeller Tortilla, and the Quesadilla Bomb. Although he shares the same wrestling profession as Zangief, the two are very different in terms of speed and combat style. El Fuerte was described as a swift and tricky fighter, with some attacks that follow immediately after executing special attacks.
Seth, on the other hand, resembled both Gill and Urien from the previous Street Fighter iteration. Not much was revealed about his quirks as a fighter, but it was mentioned that he was the CEO of S.I.N., the weapons division of Shadoloo. Transforming his body based on various fighting data he had acquired, Seth definitely looks like a formidable boss character nobody would want to mess with.
Capcom mentioned that a debut commercial for Street Fighter 4 will be shown on CBS this May 31. The commercial will be aired during the broadcast of the CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights.
Producer Yoshinori Ono also revealed that the home version of the game will be more “complete” compared to the arcade version. He explained that exclusive characters will be included outside of the arcade release and won’t be added just for the sake of upping the volume.
Street Fighter 4 is set to be released on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 platforms. While no specific date was mentioned, Famitsu did list the production of the home versions to be currently around 20 percent. In the meantime, why not enjoy some screenshots of the heavyset Rufus in action below.
