New this week on Virtual Console US: Spelunker and Super R-Type
Time yet again for Wii gamers out there to get their weekly dose of retro gaming. New this week are Spelunker from the original NES platform, and Super R-Type, from the Super Nintendo system. Details in the full article.
The Wii Virtual Console is getting two new games this week. Nintendo seems to be going with a creepy theme to add to their collection of retro games, with the addition of Spelunker and Super R-Type. (Well, they were creepy during their time at least.)
For those of you who either don’t remember, have never played, or weren’t born yet when these games came out, here’s some info on what you can expect from the games. First of all, you have to know that Spelunker is worth 500 Wii points, while Super R-Type is worth 800.
Spelunker is a very old game dating back to the time of the 8-bit Atari system. It was then released in 1985 for the NES platform. In the game you play a treasure hunter that has to go down a massive cave in search of treasure at the very bottom.
Super R-Type was a shooter released back in 1991 for the Super Nintendo. Instead of creepy caves, we get creepy aliens for this game. The game is a shooter that is set amidst a battle on a galactic scale. It’s your job to defend the Earth against the evil empire.
Both games are Rated E.
