New Wipeout and Football Games In The Works
Back in February, Sony subtly hinted on a PS3 version for the racing game Wipeout, via job postings made by Wipeout developers. Since then, the buzz had died down and we haven’t heard much about the game’s development – until we saw another Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) job posting over at the Datascope website. This once again suggests that the next-gen installment of the game is on the way.
While the February ad was for a “programmer for a network user interface”, the new job ad is for a Senior/Lead Designer who will “have a key role in realising future iterations of Wipeout on PSP and PS3.” It’s not really something that would make you jump for joy or anything, but what captured my attention is that the ad has 6 bold capital letters screaming URGENT. We may not know when the project will be finished but we do know that SCEE wants it to be finished as soon as possible.
The website also has various ads for developers who will be working on a “PSP football project” and “a PS3 football title”. Does this mean Sony is out to challenge FIFA and Pro Evo? We’ll just have to wait and see.
