Nintendo beats Nintendo: Wii/DS top NPD February hardware sales
For the month of February, Nintendo took the majority of market sales in the hardware gaming sales area. Statistics from the NPD Group have been filed, and as it stands, the Wii claims top spot in the console arena. Not much surprised, are we? Well, software sales for February did set a mark for Nintendo, too. This counts for the Wii’s second consecutive month on top of the NPD charts.
The console sold a total of 335,000 sales in February alone (on top of last month’s 435,000), and the only ones that beat Nintendo with hardware sales were Nintendo themselves. Their NDS handheld raked in 485,000 this month. And combined, the DS and Wii took a sizable 54% of overall hardware market sales. That’s a big slice of the pie, they’ve got there!
