In light of the recent PlayStation 3 launch and the admirable PS3 launch weekend sales, Nintendo is eager to defend it’s supply of Wiis in the UK. Speaking to GameSpot, a Nintendo spokesperson says that the company has indeed been making regular shipments of its console to the region since launch. However, they declined to give figures.

The spokesperson had this to say:

It is still very much the case that regular shipments of Wii are being made to retailers across the UK and have been since launch. It’s simply a fact that demand remains incredibly high for Wii with some retailers reporting higher interest now than at launch. Every unit we make right now is selling.

The spokesperson urges that Wii fans should not give up, and even goes as far as to suggest using sites like Yahoo, and other services that allow folks to check stock levels at certain stores. On the bright side, it’s amusing to note that each Wii made is sold at a profit, so Nintendo shouldn’t have to fear their supposed stocking woes so much.
