Nintendo, NTT pushing broadband Internet use in Japan for WiiWare service - Image 1Both Nintendo and Japan-based telecommunications operator NTT jointly announced today plans to push for broadband Internet access for the Wii in the region.

This is in anticipation of the download influx once the WiiWare service goes live in March. NTT, which stands for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp., added as well that its call centers started operations today to provide consultation and support for Wii’s Internet connection. This is in anticipation of the download influx once the WiiWare service goes live in March. NTT, which stands for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp., added as well that its call centers started operations today to provide consultation and support for Wii’s Internet connection.

Aside from that , the company also mentioned that both its subsidiaries, NTT West and NTT East, will be offering start-up packages which will contain equipment for Web access, on-site set-up, as well as other services for Wii users.

“I hope our fiber-optic service becomes as popular as the Wii. I think we have won a powerful ally to hit our target to boost fiber-optic subscribers to 20 million by the year ending March 2011,” commented NTT East Senior Executive VP Tetsuo Koga.
