Nintendo to improve internet service for the Wii

Wii - Image 1In an effort to step-up the gaming experience with the already-popular Nintendo Wii console, Nintendo decided to boost the Wii’s internet support in order to make online connection easier in Japan.

This is could be deemed as a step in the right direction, as only 40 percent of Wii owners have Internet connection through their consoles.

Recruiting the help of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp, Nintendo is planning to provide needed technical support through phone, as well as installing Internet connections in Wii owner’s homes. “People tend to get bored, and the skeptics are asking whether it’s just a one-time deal,” Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata said. “We must think of the next step.”

Improved internet connections through the Wii is clearly a step up towards more happy Wii gamers. Especially considering that the Wii firmware is now clocking up to v3.1. Mario should be proud.
