Nintendo World 2006 at the Makuhari Messe

Okay, I gotta admit, I had a hard time understanding what Dengeki Online was saying about the Nintendo World 2006 event. The event was was held at the Makuhari Messe Ia convention center at the Chiba Prefecture (which, according to Wikipedia, is close to Tokyo) a couple of days earlier (November 25, to be exact).

I mean yeah, thanks to Google translate I was able to make out phrases such as “line of the eaves common 30 minute”, “the line of the long snake which exceeds waiting 3 hours was possible”, and “experience the new work title of the next generation game machine” but these lines don’t really mean a lot. Thankfully, our source was equipped with pictures. And as the cliche goes, “a picture’s worth a thousand words”.

Judging from those photos, we can make out that people waited in line for hours just so they can have a first-hand experience of the Wii, Nintendo’s newest baby. Now, although the said console was already launched in U.S. during the 19th, it won’t reach Japanese shores until December 2, which basically explains the “the line of the long snake” just so they can “experience the new work title of the next generation machine”.
