Of Wii sticks and physics: WiiSticks v0.01 beta released

The other day, Walaber was able to release the front end of his promised homebrew game involving input from your Wii remote. It all started out when he was tinkering around with his Wii stick (tee-hee), and decided to combine the Wiimote input and a physics engine to come up with a simple hand-eye coordination game.

The involves the player holding two Wiimotes (or one Wiimote + Nunchuk) and tries to spin/flip a virtual stick between the two. From the look of things, Walaber‘s game has gone far from the previous WIP screenshots we’ve seen. He promises that the remote input is intuitive and will even register some force feedback.

To play the game on you PC, here are the system requirements:

  • Windows XP or other compatible windows version
  • 3D accelerator card
  • Bluetooth driver and adaptor for PC
  • 2 Wii remotes (ideally), or 1 wii remote with a Nunchuk attachment

The installation instructions are found in the readme, but for now, here are more screenshots. Go, happy sticks!
