Peter Molyneux talks Black and White 2 and Fable 2

A recent interview with Peter Molyneux reveals his several disappointments with the game design that went into Black and White 2. The video of the interview is above, and it features the good Mr. Molyneux talking his heart out.

As interesting as Black and White 2 design woes are, what will probably get you more interested in the video is that midway through it he talks about what’s in store for you in Lionhead StudiosFable 2, and he also give you ideas about the experiments that the developers embarked on that didn’t pan out.

What stands out most in the interview is his hints regarding how Death works in Fable 2. Here’s his words:

Death. Think about it. Think about death. Think about what computer games do with death. What have they done with death? What does every game do, what does just about every game do with death?

Well, itÂ’s even worse than that, you die, and you go back in time twenty minutes to do the same thing over again. ThatÂ’s fine if IÂ’m playing a platformer, not so fine if youÂ’re doing an RPG game. So I havenÂ’t talked about death, thereÂ’s another thing which I havenÂ’t talked at all about which is another word that youÂ’re gonna hear me use – which IÂ’m not gonna talk about – itÂ’s another big thing.
