PiMPStreamer v0.61 For PSP

PiMPStreamer

The World Cup has almost everyone glued to their television sets, and that includes PiMPStreamer developer DickyDick1969. But even as DickyDick1969 is watching the action unfold in one of the biggest sports event in the world, he still managed to find some time to get a small update of his great application rolling.

PiMPStreamer, which is a mod of Jonny’s PMP Mod and which allows users to perform wireless streaming of videos to the PSP, is now at v0.61. Since the developer is quite taken by the WC, this latest version has a very small update. DickyDick1969 was “bothered” by the fact that “some content played better in 0.5 than in 0.55/0.6… (noticable were the rss tiki bar episodes)” and so he’s taken time to fix it. Streaming was fixed resulting to a better sync to audio. Apparently some RSS feeds were broken, but they have been fixed with v0.61.

If you’ve been having problems with PiMPStreamer like time jumping and frame skipping, the developer’s currently looking into this matter. He says, “Appearently the ffmpeg libs donÂ’t feed the server enough audio frames to keep up with the video frames, when started in between. If that happens the streaming ends. I would love to have a way to decide *what* frame (audio/video) should be fetched by the ffmeg libs, so I could keep it in to pace with the streaming. Perhaps I should look to other libraries to read video content?”

Although there are little changes on PiMPStreamer v0.61, suffice it to say that this is still a great release. After all, every bit of improvement counts, right? Keep up the good work, DickyDick1969!
