Pinky St. to sashay onto the DS this October
And yet another part of Japanese culture makes an appearance on the Nintendo DS, and our current participant is none other than Pinky St. dolls! That’s right, Pinky St. enthusiasts who cannot afford to bring their collection around the entire time (or for others like me who cannot afford it, period), won’t have to worry too much about being parted from their beloved boys and girls anymore as they now have Pinky St. KiraKira Music Hour (or KiraMu for short) to keep them company.
For those who are unfamiliar with Pinky St., it’s a line of dolls that were initially released in Japan featuring figures dressed in Japanese street fashion. These figures have removable parts and accessories, and interchangeable heads and bodies which thus makes customization a breeze. However, this fad later took off completely when popular anime characters such as Evangelion’s Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley started making appearances as Pinky dolls as well; the fad was no longer a fad but an obsession.
Now, the dolls that were once mere toys are now highly-collectible items, with limited models fetching prices that can go for up to hundreds of dollars per piece.
With that little history lesson covered, we can now go into the details of this game. This game garnered a good review from Japanese gaming bible Famitsu, so Pinky fans can count on this title to live up to expectations.

With that little history lesson covered, we can now go into the details of this game. This game garnered a good review from Japanese gaming bible Famitsu, so Pinky fans can count on this title to live up to expectations. In this game, besides shopping for, accessorizing and dressing up your chosen Pinky, there are also other mini-games such as an in-game gachapon machine where you can get special accessories. Also, KiraMu is mainly a rhythm game where the player has to tap to the rhythm of the music in order to clear stages. The better you play, the more Pinkys get unlocked.
So, get ready, put that paint and sandpaper aside for now as Pinky St. KiraKira Music Hour is set for its Japanese debut on October 26, and will sell at a discounted price of ¥4435 or around US$ 37 for a limited time.
