Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Battle Details

How the battles in Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl will function is now known. All menus can be navigated through the touchscreen. When you enter a battle, you will have three options on the bottom screen. They will be “Battle,” “Items,” and “Switch Pokemon.” If it’s a wild battle, you will also have the “Run” option. The top half of the bottom screen will have information on your current Pokemon.

Selecting Attack takes you to the screen with your Pokemon’s attacks. Each attack is in a box with the name, type, and PP. Selecting Item takes you to a screen that is split in four. The four selectable categories are HP/PP Recovery, Pokeballs, Status Recovery, and Battle Use. Pokemon Selection takes you to a screen with your party of six. It shows the Pokemon as well as their current HP. When you touch a Pokemon, it asks you if you’d like to view their status or just send them straight into battle.
