Pre-E3 Interview with Rainbow Six Vegas Developer
With the huge success of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare, Team Rainbow fans may have set their eyes on matching the game’s success or even surpassing it. But will Rainbow Six Vegas even come close? Xbox.com sat down with Maxime Beland and Jean-Pascal Cambiotti from Ubisoft Montreal to dig up some inside scoop about the highly-anticipated Xbox 360 game.
With Las Vegas as the backdrop of the game, Ubisoft has focused on one location but with different environments. Aside from the drama, Rainbow Six will bring realism to the next level with the use of vertical environments that allow for rappelling and fast-roping moves.
Characters in the game are fully customizable. Each character evolves by playing ranked online games, acquiring experience points, and unlocking pieces of equipment. To even the playing field, players won’t be given statistical advantage over other players when equipment are unlocked. In other words, every character is only as good as the player controlling him.
Ubisoft has confirmed that Marketplace will be utilized, but it remained mum about specific details that will leave players “pleasantly surprised”.
Fans can expect new online cooperative and adversarial game modes in addition to the other modes players have come to enjoy in Rainbow Six. Attack & Defend is a game mode in which one team go on assault mission, while the other team defends an objective, which can be a hostage rescue, bomb defusal, or intel recovery. With that, expect clans to be established as an organized force.
To better control a team, the order system has been revised. In the game, available orders are based off where your team is. That just means you don’t need to be right next to your teammates to give them orders.
