Pre-E3 WWE Smackdown versus Raw 2008 video interview
If you found the previous offerings of the highly-successful WWE Smackdown versus Raw series a bit cumbersome in controls and jargon, worry not – the latest entry, THQ‘s WWE Smackdown versus Raw 2008 (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360), will now be featuring intuitive, single-button controls, as we find out from this Pre-E3 video interview of the people behind the game.
In this video, we learn from Bryan Williams, Creative Manager of Smackdown versus Raw 2008, that this upcoming title will be different from its predecessors – in more ways than one. He cites one of the game’s key (and most exciting) features, namely the ability to make dive attacks. Instead of a confusing button combination, the actual process of making a dive is streamlined to just hitting a button at the correct position – making things more context-sensitive, more intuitive.
We also find out from Associate Game Designer Dan Ryan about the Wii version of WWE Smackdown versus Raw 2008 – and yes, the game will actually support motion-sensing. Cool feature to watch out for – the taunt system in the game actually requires you to do the actual taunt for your character to perform it. Definitely awesome, but what if you’re playing as Stone Cold Steve Austin?
The Wii version of WWE Smackdown versus Raw 2008 will be coming out in fall, along with the other versions. Updates as we get them – in the meantime, enjoy the video!
