PS3 can still win, just needs “the game”

Yes, that’s right. “The game.” The game to rule all games. The game that will make every gamer want to shell out 600 bucks to buy that powerful console just to play that one PS3 exclusive game. It’s what every gamer, fanboy, and even analyst says. Don’t count out the PS3 just yet. It still can make a serious comeback.

So relatively, it’s based on what games are available for the console. Right now only the hardcore console gamers buy the PS3, and the rest go straight for Wii. The PS3 still beats the Wii in technology – it only lacks in fun. Even when Sony is suffering from a sales setback on all markets, they still have a feeling that they can get through to the win. Once “the game” pops up, that is.

But at present, Sony is trying to compete with how many games they can get out there for the PS3, rather than what really fun game should come out to offer the maximum “Wow!” effect. Sony has 127 titles to ship out soon, and the Wii has a mere 76 coming out, hoping to level out the sales level soon.

And then there’s the PS3’s ability to be the all-in-one media center for the home. As Kitt McCurdy, an analyst for GameSpot Trax, said, as more shoppers buy high-end HDTV sets and become more interested in the newer DVD formats, the PS3 may be a winner in the long run.

“Technologically, the PS3 blows the Wii out of the water. In terms of visuals and graphics, it’s excellent,” McCurdy said. “Everyone’s going to wait and see if the PS3 puts out that killer app that’s going to be so amazing everyone’s going to drop 600 bucks on a console because they want to play it so badly.”
