PS3 EU Launch: the line’s starting to form

PS3 EU Launch - Camping Season - Image 1IGN informs that as early as March 21, folks are already lining up at the Oxford Street branch of official Sony retail partner Virgin Megastores. However, as early as some folks are lining up, IGN notes that when they they visited the makeshift Sony PlayStation 3 launch “camp” – what else are you going to call an area that offers a roof, free drinks, some games and food – only two people were there to greet them.

IGN notes that they were a bit surprised that not as many folks as they expected were lining up this early. They speculate that perhaps this has something to do with the price.

It is also reported that  several big London stores have aborted their PS3 midnight openings due to security fears. This is a somewhat negative report that has a silver lining, given that the openings were stopped not due to lack of demand, but over safety concerns. This concern over safety of course is something we here at QJ are amused, and glad with; especially when you recall the reports of violence during the PS3 North American launch.

Anyhow, we’ll keep an eye on news reports, and update you if the line has grown, or if something undesirable pops up. Stay tuned.
