In stark contrast to the PSP Go’s dismal first-week sales in Australia, the PS3 has been performing admirably in the region. Since the PS3 Slim’s September 3 launch, the console has been outselling both the Xbox 360 and Wii.

“I can confirm that in excess of 60,000 units of the PS3 120GB have been sold since launch,” a Sony spokesperson told GameSpot.

“I can also confirm that since the launch of the new model on September 3 [in Australia], total sales for the period since introduction have outperformed our competition,” the rep added.

As for the PSP Go, its rather soft launch still managed to help sell PSPs. According to Sony, the platform as a whole — including PSP-3000 and software sales — saw a 100 percent surge
