The PS3 Slim is still rampaging through sales charts all over the world. Over in Japan, the latest PS3 iteration recently smashed through previous sales records set by the console.

According to a Famitsu report (translations courtesy of Kotaku), the PS3 Slim sold 150,252 units during its first three days in retail. Comparatively, the PS3 sold only 88,000 units during its first two days on sale three years ago, although that launch did have a few problems..

For the week covering August 31 to September 6, the Slim sold a total of 150,832 units. As of September 6, the console has sold a total of 3,431,964 units in Japan.

Same as with the huge sales increases in other parts of the world, we’ll have to wait for the September monthly numbers to see how significant the Slim’s impact will be.
