Unreal Tournament III - Image 1The Sony PlayStation 3 version of Midway GamesUnreal Tournament 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)has been delayed to fiscal 2008’s first quarter. In non-business community’s talk, that’s anytime from the start of next April to the end of next June.

Unreal Tournament 3 for the Sony PS3 was originally supposed to launch before the end of calendar year 2007, while its PC and Microsoft Xbox 360 counterparts were ready for early 2008. Midway CEO and President David Zucker commented:

While we regret that these delays will cause us to lose some valuable holiday sales in the near term as well as shift revenue for some of these titles out of 2007 and into 2008, we remain confident that our technology strategy and product plan position us to grow both revenue and market share as we move into the heart of this console cycle.

He added, “Looking ahead to 2008, with our core technology platform now in place, we expect to release a number of titles, including already announced console versions of Unreal Tournament 3, a next generation installment of our NBA Ballers franchise, Wheelman, and TNA iMPACT! the video game.”

The delay of Unreal Tournament 3 has caused the expected quarterly revenue for Midway’s Q3 to drop from US$ 50 million to US$ 39 million. Annual revenues for 2007 are projected now at US$ 170 million from the earlier US$ 225 million forecast.

A press conference is set for 5:30 PM EDT today. More details are expected to flow in from the press con so keep it here for more updates.
