PSN looking into in-game XMB access for future update
Here’s one update to the PlayStation 3’s functionality we could definitely look forward to aside from the release of Home (particularly those who got in on its petition): in-game access to the XMB. According to Eric Lempel, PlayStation Network‘s director of operations, we might be seeing this function in the future, allowing us to message friends in-game and inviting them to matches. We are looking at a number of enhancements related to accessing some of the XMB features during gameplay, including messaging your friends. […] We’ve heard loud and clear from consumers that in-game XMB access is one of the most requested PS3 enhancements
While he didn’t give an exact date (or even a vague one) on when we can expect the update, at least they know that a lot of PS3 owners out there want it to happen. Let’s save the fireworks for another day though as it might still be some time before we see this come to effect.
