Jason Rubin’s Iron and the Maiden: Game or Comics?

When we last featured Jason Rubin‘s Iron and the Maiden, he just gave very vague details on his upcoming solo project since leaving Naughty Dog‘s nest. And I quote, “After 20 years at Naughty Dog I’ve decided to try something new.‘Iron and the Maiden’ will be my first solo project. It isn’t ‘Crash Bandicoot‘, and it isn’t ‘Jak and Daxter’. This is something new. Raw, Uncensored, Uncut.”

And with the latest images from Iron and the Maiden on his very own MySpace page, we can see that it is truly a departure from the Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Dexter genre that he was associated with for more than 20 years. Of course, it can’t be helped that this will be thought as a game being developed for the PlayStation 3 given Rubin’s history, but unfortunately no clear confirmation, if that is true or not, has yet been given even in his latest statement. But what we do know is that he used the phrase, “The first media.” Meaning there will be others? A game perhaps? To get you up to speed, here’s the what Jason said:

The first media that Iron will appear in is Comics. A four issue mini series is currently being pencilled and colored.

I’ve put together some of the top names in the comic realm including pencils by Francis Manapul and Joel Gomez, Colors by Danimation, Lettering by Comicraft, and design by Joe Maduriera, Jeff Matsuda, Chris Lichtner, and Blur. Jeff Matsuda has completed an alternate cover, and I have 3 more big names lined up to do alternates to the Manapul/Gomez covers. It’s going to be off the hook.

Check back for more updates as they become available. I plan to launch the official website soon.

Thanks for being patient…
