Following the E3 unveiling of the PSP Go, Sony's new handheld got a lot of raps for its features, its looks, and its rather unfriendly price tag. As a result, two indie retailers in the UK have not registered a single pre-order for PSP Go, leaving their respective management teams to wonder if they're gonna stock the new hardware.
Following the E3 unveiling of the PSP Go, Sony's new handheld got a lot of raps for its features, its looks, and its rather unfriendly price tag. As a result, two indie retailers in the UK have not registered a single pre-order for PSP Go, leaving their respective management teams to wonder if they're gonna stock the new hardware.For Chips exec Don McCabe, stocking is still an option, although it's looking pretty bleak with the way things are going. "Certainly I’m not getting the response from consumers," he said, adding that not even the usual Day 1 buyers called to pre-order. 'If suddenly I get a wealth of pre-orders then I’ll reconsider my position, but right now I would have to say that it’s not our intention to stock the product at this point in time.”
Chris Harwood, director at Grainger Games, goes more into detail and zeros in on the far-from-zero price. “price is too expensive… I can only go from the response from the consumers,” he said. “It’s not so much that I don’t think the price is justified, but it’s the customers who pay the money and they don’t think it’s justified. We can’t see where that price justification comes in when effectively it’s a lighter, slimmer PSP."
