Did you think that the rumored PSP-3000 model was pure, unadulterated bunk? Well, think again. Sony has already sent a new PSP model marked PSP-3001 to the FCC for testing.
The FCC reports are dated July 7, with the testing dates listed as July 9 to July 16. According to Ask-wi.com, FCC certification usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks, so that part is pretty much done. You can check out the reports here.
There’s a lot of pretty technical stuff on the FCC reports and while there’s no big “Pandora-proof” seal anywhere there, I’d it’s pretty fair to assume that this new model would carry some sort of heavy protection against Pandora, just like the PSP-2000 TA-088v3.
It seems all we have to do now is wait for official announcements from Sony. Christmas would probably be a safe bet for the PSP-3000’s release, but it could be sooner. Keep checking back here for more updates.
