Success Brings Shanghai to PSP and DS

A couple of weeks back, at Nintendo’s DS press conference in Tokyo, Success announced Shanghai for the DS, suggesting that the underpowered Nintendo hardware would be the only place to play the popular puzzle game. What Success neglected to mention was that Shanghai is also in development for the far more powerful PSP. Both versions are being prepared for Japanese release in December.

Both Shanghai titles include six modes of play, of which we know only one: a time attack mode. The PSP’s screen seems to do a nicer job with the tile pieces than the DS’s screen, but the DS makes up for the imbalance with stylus support. Both games will include wireless play, although download play is listed only for the DS version at this point.

Success will be charging a surprising 3990 yen for the PSP and DS versions of Shanghai.
