In an interview with MMORPG.com, RAN Online Lead Designer PB Kim revealed some interesting information about the unique 3D “campus-based” MMO.

According to Kim, RAN Online will provide localized in-game events featuring mythic heroes and animals. The development team also arranged a server for Battle Loyal Type competition. Kim is open to suggestions and cool ideas for new joyful events. One of the more exciting events to take place is the Dragon Boat event. More events based on the myth or animation within the local areas where Ran Online is available will be organized.

The game supports PKing (player killing) and Kim admits that the system is “sort of a burden” as it has to balance the player vs. monster system, as well as player vs. player. The game provides “troubles” between players, which will serve as “subjects” to make PKing more appropriate in the game. Kim also hinted on plans for character development, but he didn’t expound on it.

When asked about the club and party system and how they connect with the colleges, Kim explained, “The party system and club system in RAN Online is only available among the characters from the same school. As you can suggest from this, those three schools are in the competition. The competition is not to defeat others as all of them have same goal that is to protect ‘The Real WorldÂ’. The competition is aimed to decide the leader school among them. Nevertheless, unrelated to the scenario, players seem to decide others as an enemy. It is may be the players in the game represent nowadays human being and life style.”

Kim also shared his thoughts on the future of MMO and how RAN Online fit into that development. He predicts that there will more games aimed at specific targets. This may result in more detailed and realistic episodes occurring in the game.

I can guarantee you MMO Games will become more realistic in the future. The more you play the more your reward. Maybe it will become more than just a game…
