Regroup Esports enters console market with XUG acquisition
Leading global electronic sports company Regroup Esports has announced its acquisition of the Xbox Users Group (XUG). The acquisition of XUG‘s 45,000-member strong community will be used by Regroup Esports as a stepping stone towards breaking into the console market.
“By purchasing XUG we hope to gradually bring together two separate gaming worlds – being respectively the world of consoles and the world of e-sports.” said Mark Peter Fries, CEO, Regroup Esports. “We believe that such a mix will become useful and exciting to both gamer segments.”
The Xbox Users Group is widely recognized as the world’s second largest Xbox site. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
