Rein clarifies UT3’s Xbox 360 development plans
When Mark Rein of Epic Games said that his team will start working on the Microsoft Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 (also for Sony PS3, PC) after Christmas, a few took it as Epic Games scrapping what they’ve been working on and starting over after the holidays. This time, Rein clears it up to avoid further misinterpretation.

When Mark Rein of Epic Games said that his team will start working on the Microsoft Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 (also for Sony PS3, PC) after Christmas, a few took it as Epic Games scrapping what they’ve been working on and starting over after the holidays.
Not so, says Rein as he clarified that what he meant was that the Epic Games’ development team will take a break to be with friends and family during the holidays and resume work on Unreal Tournament 3 afterwards.
“What I probably should have said was start working on it again,” says Rein. “We had the game up and running on all three platforms up until last spring.”
Rein says that development was temporarily put on hold for the Microsoft Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 because Epic Games wanted to take the Sony PlayStation 3 and PC version’s shipping efforts out of the way first.
Unreal Tournament 3, which runs on the much-hyped Unreal Engine 3, will debut on November 19 for PC. No word has been said about the Sony PlayStation 3 version which is supposed to be a platform exclusive until the end of 2007.
