Reminiscing: The Burning Crusade launch

The Burning Crusade, relived - Image 1We know this subject is a bit old but bear with us a bit. This isn’t about how much money Blizzard raked in or how many records they broke. This is about the Horde – and well the Alliance, too – that celebrated the launch event.

At the South California launch, those faithful to WoW lined up in frigid temperatures (by So Cal standards) dressed against the elements. Some lined up as early as Saturday, bundled in sleeping bags or cooped up in tents. Playful banter was exchanged between factions as everyone was in high spirits.

Blizzard devs were celebrities during the launch itself, signing anything and everything remotely related to WoW from T-shirts to guild banners. The other launch events (at other locations) were basically identical to So Cal launch.

Good times. Why can’t we have more events like that? When is the next expansion coming out? Twelve months, assuming Blizzard delivers on schedule? Let’s hope it turns out just like The Burning Crusade.
