Report: DSi incompatible with current flash carts
Ohhh, sneaky, sneaky Nintendo! Early reports have come in that the new DSi is not – repeat, NOT – capable of booting existing flash cartridges, including the R4 and the EZ Flash V. Looks like Sony’s not the only one getting all crackdown on homebrew and piracy.

There’s a long list of casualties, but the major names include the R4 and the EZ Flash V. These are the confirmed models that do not work with the DSi (although don’t bet that others not included in the list do):
- CycloDS
- G6 DS Real
- M3 DS Real
- Supercard DS One
- iTouch DS
- FCard
- NCard
- M3 DS Simply
- U2DS
Looks like Sony’s not the only one getting all crackdown on homebrew and piracy. Nintendo’s recent firmware update for the Wii also partially handicapped the Wiibrew scene.
While this is a great move against piracy, it’s a little unfair that the homebrew scene should be punished as well. I wouldn’t worry about it though. I give it a month before someone comes up with R5 or something.
