Report: FFXIII’s Xbox 360 version only 18GB

The Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will ship on three discs, which gives Square Enix around 25GB or so to play with. That’s quite a bit lower than the estimated 38GB the PS3 version uses, but reportedly the game’s total size is even smaller on the Xbox 360 side.

Using an overseas review copy, Japanese site GameSpark puts Final Fantasy XIII‘s Xbox 360 version at a mere 18GB, less than half the size of the one for PS3. The breakdown is as follows:

• Disc 1: 5.9GB
• Disc 2: 5.8GB
• Disc 3: 6.6GB

Square Enix must me using some mad compression to squeeze all those cutscenes into a package that small. Hopefully the quality doesn’t suffer too much.
