RSPsar Dumper v3.4 – ready for Sony’s PSP firmware 4.00
Aren’t we having a lot of adopted projects here today? Though Psar Dumper became a passion for well-known developers in the past, the project is now left on the hands of those with the skill and will to continue updating the useful firmware decryptor and dumper. Now we hear from MaGiXieN that a new developer who simply wanted to remain anonymous has updated Red Squirrel‘s previous Psar Dumper build. The difference with RSPSar Dumper v3.4 is that it’s ready to decrypt and dump Sony‘s official PSP firmware 4.00.

The last we heard of RSPsar Dumper was last month, when author Red Squirrel updated the homebrew development utility to decrypt Sony‘s official 3.95 firmware for the PlayStation Portable. Today marks a new chapter in it’s lifetime. Since the release of Sony’s official firmware 4.00, RSPsar Dumper has been updated to version 3.4 in order to prove that the software has indeed been decrypted.
So in short, RSPsar Dumper v3.4 has the necessary keys to get the official firmware decrypted, and it has been updated to support 4.00 dumping. Or so says the anonymous author’s changelog:
- Added two decryption keys in the pspdecrypt for FW 4.00
- FW 4.00 support was added to the main program.
- Buffers have been adjusted to support the decoding of 4.00
Yes, we said anonymous developer. Apparently, the latest compilation of Red Squirrel’s famed utility hasn’t been the complete fruits of the original author. A new developer picked up the project and is only identified as Anonymous Dev 2, according to MaGiXieN of PSP-GEN. We’ll update you as soon as we get more information.
