Rumor: DSi Kingdom Hearts 358/2 bundle coming, has GBA support?
As we know from the DSi’s specs, the GBA slot was taken out. But what’s this? We’ve spotted a faxed document which outlines a DSi-KH bundle that includes, not just a copy of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, but also a copy for Chain of Memories. No wai! Could this also mean that there’s a DS-to-GBA function for 358/2 Days, just like how you could unlock an Easter egg in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow by inserting a GBA cartridge for Aria of Sorrow? Ooh…
The picture you see above shows a document which comes from a Japanese video game retailer called Manadarake Galaxy. This was faxed to a Neowin forum member who, in turn, got it translated. I’m sure you can make out “DSi” and “358/2” in the text, but what does it all mean?
According to the translation, Square Enix and Nintendo will be releasing a limited edition DSi sometime during the second quarter of next year. It’s going to be a Kingdom Hearts bundle. Ok, not surprising, right? Considering that KH: 358/2 Days will be released soon, a DSi bundle sounds reasonable.
With that said, let’s dig deeper, shall we? Here’s what the bundle will have:
- a copy of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
- a copy of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
- a silver DSi that has Gameboy Advance backwards compatibility
“Wait, what? I thought the GBA slot was taken out of the DSi?” Yep, my initial reaction exactly. Could this GBA-capable DSi be for real? And if so, why are they bundling Chain of Memories with it? Just because its from the same series? May be… however, it could also hint at something even more profound.
Remember how, in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, you can insert a GBA cartridge of Aria of Sorrow and get the Rare Ring? Maybe Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days will have that same sort of function with Chain of Memories in the GBA slot? Ooh, the plot thickens…
