Rumor: Microsoft to come out with Blu-ray Xbox 360 in May?
With more and more companies withdrawing support from the HD DVD, there’s a rumor that Microsoft will be following suit by bringing out a Blu-ray Xbox 360 this coming May which will let them go head to head with the Sony‘s PlayStation 3. Find out more in the full article.
News has been circulating that the companies have begun or have made plans of dumping the HD DVD format for the Blu-ray format. Now, there’s a rumor that Microsoft will be leaving the HD DVD also and will releasing the Blu-ray Xbox 360 in May.
Insiders from the company that Microsoft has already put together a standalone Blu-ray player that can be used with the console. It is currently under internal marketing and sales approvals which could be on sale within three months.
In addition to this, they also said that they’ve been working on a built-in Blu-ray player for the console.
With this rumored move, Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment, commented that:
We would welcome Microsoft to the Blu-ray stable. In fact it is quite logical for them as the PS3 has been very successful in driving consumers to Blu-ray. In fact we believe that it has done more to win the format war than traditional Blu-ray player.
