Rumor: Microsoft’s Jeff Bell belittles forum poster?
This could either be Jeff Bell blowing a fuse or simply an elaborate prank, but a forum member going by the name “a Master Ninja” over the NeoGAF forums claims to have received a message from a certain user going by the name of “bell801” and made a thread of speculations on how it could be Microsoft‘s VP of Global Marketing for Interactive Entertainment Division.
The poster was very critical of Bell’s performance during Microsoft’s E3 press conference, reports 1Up, so it probably wasn’t surprising that the poster received a message in his mailbox from the aforementioned username saying “And your contribution to society is…what?”
Upon further investigation, an interview on YouTube was found that links Bell to the mystery forum member’s name. It turns out that 801 is Bell’s favorite number since college. Not too long after word was been passed around, 1Up received a message from a moderator at the NeoGAF Forums confirming that “bell801” was registered with Jeff Bell’s information, although details of the information were never divulged.
As we all know, anyone can steal identities all over the internet. ‘Til Microsoft gives official word regarding the matter, let’s tag this under rumor. For now, you can check out the thread by clicking on the read link below. You’ll have to be a NeoGAF member, though.
