Oooh, this one’s a keeper: hushed words are floating on the web, saying that Sony was almost about to incorporate some PS2 backwards compatibility function with one of the more recent PS3 firmware updates. Due to some last minute directives though, they decided to pull the plug on it.
This latest rumor comes from a French video game publisher who supposedly let French website JV247 in on the secret. According to them, PS2 backwards compatibility could still eventually come as an update, and if it so happens, it’s going to be because Sony would start offering PS2 games on the PlayStation Store.
I know quite a lot of you are still bitter about having PS2 backwards compatibility taken out of the PS3s units. Yeah, count me in – I can’t let go of the PS2 just yet either.
Now if Sony is really intending to bring it back in some form or other, that’s going to be great news for all parties concerned. So far, Sony has yet to respond to these claims.
