Rumor: Rock Band to rock on the Wii? Will we see Wiiguitars and Wiidrums?
Harmonix‘s stand on the rumor? Gamespot reports that they have this to say: “We are conducting consumer focus groups for Rock Band but have not finalized any pricing or packaging details. Any speculation at this point is just that–speculation.”
Oh, sorry, this blogger got ahead of himself. Anyhow, the rumor is that a supposed participant in Harmonix’s research for their hyped game, Rock Band, claims that testers have said that the game, already announced on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, would be coming to the Wii as well.
Moreover the rumor goes that the participant alleges that they were told that the game’s set list will feature nothing but original artists, and that the drum peripheral will feature a drum with a kick pedal and real sticks.
Gamespot’s analysis of the rumor is that it seems legit. They do note, however, that it seems unlikely that the Wii version will arrive alongside the Xbox 360 and the PS3 version.
With all the promised peripherals, the expected price tag for this game will be really really high. So it only seems best that Harmonix takes its time to research on which platform will be the best one to bring their game to the masses. Shotgunning and going for all the platforms is as good a tactic as any.
So how’s the price for this game so far? US$ 150 or so the “source” says. It better be hell of a great game then.
