ScummVM DS v0.9.1a
ScummVM DS 0.9.1a has left the Beta stage, and its creators, agentq (Neil Millstone) and the rest of the ScummVM team, should be proud of their latest release. In the past, we covered ScummVM DS 0.9.1a Beta 2, 0.9.1a Beta 3, 0.9.1a Beta 4, and the last Beta version, Beta 6. Now in this newest version of ScummVM, they have added some more features and fixes that should make fans of legacy games happy.
Aside from the fixes that were mentioned in previous our coverage of the emulator, they have also repaired a few other things in this version. For starters, they fixed the graphics glitch which occurs with Scumm games that use a lot of scrolling sdasdas, long filename support, (Mac versions of Scumm games will now run) and the turning controls in the Indiana Jones games have all been fixed.
In addition, they have added new features to the emulator as well. Additional zooming options (100%, 200%, and Fit) are now available and CD audio tracks can now start from track one or two. Those hoping to play Lucasarts‘ Full Throttle, The Dig, or The Curse of Monkey Island are still out of luck though, because of certain RAM issues that the DS has. Humongous Entertainment games still aren’t playable as well since the extra code required would eat up too much RAM.
A readme file is enclosed in the Zip file, along with instructions on how to install the emulator, as well as other important information such as compatibility issues and controls. Be sure to read it before trying to install the emulator.
