Sega: No Genesis/Mega Drive Virtual Console for PS3 (so far)
While Sega has declared that they will be supporting the Wii’s Virtual Console with their lineup of classic 16-bit games, they’ve been somewhat mum about a similar service for the PS3. On their official website, the company announced that they were “looking closely” at the possibility of doing so, but are not confirming if they have plans to e-distribute their Genesis/Mega Drive lineup to Sony‘s PS3 in the first place.
Hope they do. You will note that they were “looking closely” (the rough web-translation reads “It is a stage being zealously examined now”) at the possibility. Perhaps they’re waiting for the PS3 launch, so they can observe how many users have hooked them up to the net, before they decide that it’s worthwhile to extend a Sega virtual console to the PS3.
