Sega working on a new horror game?
All of you horror game buffs out there might get a kick out this little piece of news. It seems that Sega is thinking about making a new horror videogame. According to Siliconera, Sega released a customer survey form earlier today that asked people if they liked horror games and then asked then to choose a title most appealing to them from a list of possible game titles. Here’s how Sega describes the “video game that could be developed for the PlayStation3 or Xbox 360”:
An open free-roaming action horror game where the player undertakes a terrorizing journey of suspense, fear, power and discovery, and where every decision has multiple consequences… Uncover an ancient chest with unimaginable power that seduces you into evil, sin and corruption.
It’s a pretty generic description, yes. Sega then proceeded to give the survey respondents four possible game titles: Crucible (wasn’t this a movie?), The Sacrament (Catholic schoolpeople know this), The Box (is it Lemarchand’s by any chance?) and The Gift (sounds like a cheesy prom song). Y’know, if this game ever gets made, we sure don’t think it’ll be called The Box since the Silent Hill series already has a lock on a similar title: Silent Hill 4:The Room. The survey then asked the respondents which of the titles caught their attention, and if given just the title and no additional information, which of the possible games would they play.

Personally, I think the survey’s a bit too vague. Just giving someone a title and nothing else is a pretty hard way to judge a person’s reaction towards a game (even though said game doesn’t exist yet). But then again, I’m not the one doing the survey. What about you guys? Which title would you pick? Me, I’d pick The Box, even though I still think there’s no chance Sega will go with that title. I just like it because it reminds me of the Lament Configuration.
