Shinobido sequel sneaks to PSP in October
New details have emerged today on the sequel to the Shinobido titles for PS2 which will make it’s way to the PSP in October. The game was featured in this week’s issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, which detailed the new game modes gamers can expect for the PSP release.
There will be 2 single player modes: National Tour and Mission Play as well as various multiplayer ad-hoc modes. The National Tour mode has no less than 80 missions set in different locations around Japan, meaning you’ll never have to do the same mission again. Variety is a great asset for a handheld title, as you never know how long you’ll spend in traffic one day with just your PSP in hand. It can only be a good thing.
Players will have to complete carefully laid out goals in order to successfully complete a mission, such as assassinating targets, transporting items, wiping out groups of enemies, and even taking on bodyguard duties; where you can expect an ambush. You accumulate experience points for every successful mission, allowing you to level up your character when needed. Certain levels also unlock new characters when completed, with 30 characters in total to be included in the game.
Owners of previous Shinobido titles will benefit from owning the old titles too. By linking the PSP to the PS2’s USB ports, custom level data can be downloaded and played in the Mission Play mode. Characters from the previous games can also be downloaded making this game even bigger. Multiplayer support will also be good, with downloadable custom levels available and up to four players can get in on the action simultaneously.
Shinobido: Homura is scheduled for release in Japan on October 26, with no North American release date stated as of yet.
