You know that everyone’s favorite Diamond-Duster is in Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360), and just when you thought that Square Enix will continue giving less and less clothing for the Ice Queen, she’s gonna be a Summoner’s version of a Harley when you ask her for help. As you’ve seen from the Ifrit and Shiva artwork, there are two Shivas – a darker one and a whiter one. Apparently, they have names, so move over Magus Sisters, this icy duo will take center stage today.

According to the latest issue of Jump, Shiva will be made up of two Shivas, whose names are Styria and Nix. Styria is the older one with the black face, Nix is the younger one with white. When Summoned, the two will join together so that you can ride them both at the same time (!). The driving feature tied with the summoning is still pretty much a mystery at this point, whether we can ride Odin and Ifrit too is still unknown, or if this feature is unique to Shiva.

As it is, when you mount Shiva (focus guys, focus!), the battle system automatically goes into Driving Mode, where attacks will have to be made through special button combinations, which for the PS3 controller would be as follows:

  • Circle – Auto Drive
  • Up+Circle – Wheelie Rush
  • X – Air Edge
  • Triangle – Diamond Dust

There you have it – Styria and Nix. As John Tanaka of IGN wrote, “Make sure you know their names before riding them.”
