The results for May have come in and it based from it the Wii is projected to sell five times more than the PlayStation 3.

This announcement comes in right before the NPD releases its monthly sales figures for each console. While the results haven’t come in yet, these figures show the amount of consumer confidence that has been built up by the Wii. Nintendo is looking pretty good right now with the DS and Wii taking the video games market by storm.

simExchange predictions for the month of May:

  • Xbox 360 – 208K units
  • PlayStation 3 – 80K units
  • Wii – 393K units
  • Nintendo DS – 492K units
  • PlayStation Portable – 176K units

simExchange predictions for the year:

  • Nintendo DS – 105.00 million units
  • Wii – 99.76 million units
  • Xbox 360 – 60.00 million units
  • PSP – 42.87 million units
  • PS3 – 63.00 million units

The market trends they’ve been releasing is pretty consistent with the hardware sales that have been posted in the past few months. However, we have to keep in mind that these are still only predictions, we’ll really have to wait and see if the numbers hold true. It has been said though that simExchange has “relatively more accurate than expert predictions.” That said, the service is free for all those who wish to take part in it.
